March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Regular screening is the key to catching colon cancer early — when it is most treatable and curable.

Getting screened for colon cancer is easy. If you are ages 50 – 74 and have no first-degree family history of colon cancer, you should complete a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) every 2 years. FIT is free, painless and can be completed in the comfort of your own home.

Talk to your health care provider about getting screened. If you don’t have a health care provider, you can call:

  • Health811 at 1-866-828-9213 or
  • The Screen for Life Coach at (807) 684-7777
